Medical

Medical lighting spans status and indicator LEDs on devices, illuminated controls and displays on instrumentation, and the functional LEDs inside diagnostic and monitoring equipment. The exact color, brightness or wavelength of an LED can carry clinical meaning, so each one is typically verified against specification.

A medical device benefits from being unambiguous and repeatable. A status light that reads the wrong color, or a sensing LED whose wavelength has drifted, isn't a cosmetic issue — it can change how the device is read or how it performs. Regulated manufacturing also tends to call for a documented result behind every unit, which points toward accurate, fully traceable testing.

Feasa products can test medical lighting at multiple points throughout the production process — from LEDs on PCBs through assembled devices to laboratory measurements — measuring both the human-facing indicators and the sensing LEDs in a single pass. Each emitter can be checked against specifications, supporting the traceability regulated manufacturing depends on. Status and indicator LEDs are typically handled by the Functional LED Analyser, RGB indicators by the RGB LED Analyser, and infrared and red sensing emitters by the Infrared LED Analyser. Where absolute, traceable characterization is needed, the Feasa LED Spectrometer can provide high-accuracy color and intensity measurements or act as a reference for the Feasa LED Analysers.

Find defects before customers do

A fault found at build costs far less than a return, recall or field repair

Protect brand reputation

A lighting defect that reaches the field reflects directly on the brand

Product consistency

Output should look the same from one unit to the next, and across a product range

Compliance

Specified and regulated products benefit from a documented result behind every unit

Objective, repeatable results

A measured value removes the subjectivity of a visual inspection

Keep pace with production

Fast, multichannel testing fits the line without becoming a bottleneck

Color & intensity testing

Confirms LEDs match one another and stay consistent from one unit to the next

CCT & chromaticity measurement

Reports color temperature and CIE coordinates for every LED

Fast test times

Every LED read in a single cycle, in-line or off-line

IR Power & Wavelength testing

Verifies infrared and red emitters that can't be judged by eye

Data logging & results output

Every reading captured and exported for records and analysis

Traceable, absolute measurement options

Full-spectrum color and wavelength from the Feasa LED Spectrometer, on its own or as a reference for the Feasa LED Analysers

Common medical device lighting test scenarios

A closer look at how Feasa systems are applied to specific medical device lighting measurement challenges.

Testing illuminated displays and controls

The Display Analyser outputs a luminance value at each measured point as a multichannel tester.

Light is taken from the source through a fibre-optic head and cable to the module. Heads can be placed freely over the product for spot checks.

Verifying status LEDs

Each indicator is captured for (x,y), dominant wavelength and intensity in a single acquisition.

Values are output per unit. The customer compares against their own limits to confirm a color-state such as green, amber or red.
