Aircraft lighting covers cockpit instrument and panel lighting, backlit controls and annunciators, cabin and reading lighting, and indicator LEDs throughout the aircraft. Much of it is safety-relevant and tightly specified.
Aircraft lighting sits under strict specification and a long service life, and the cost of addressing a fault once equipment is in service is high. A backlit panel that is uneven, an annunciator that reads the wrong color, or lighting that has drifted outside its specified limits are defects best caught at build — and each is typically documented, because this sector runs on traceable manufacturing records.
Feasa systems can test these panels and boards at multiple points throughout the production process — from LEDs on PCBs through assembled units to laboratory measurements. Each unit can be measured and logged, supporting the documentation this sector relies on. Panel and annunciator indicators are typically handled by the Functional LED Analyser, and backlit panels by the Low Light LED Analyser. Where absolute characterization is needed, the Feasa LED Spectrometer can provide full-spectrum color and intensity measurements which can act as a reference for the Feasa LED Analysers.
Find defects before customers do
A fault found at build costs far less than a return, recall or field repair
Protect brand reputation
A lighting defect that reaches the field reflects directly on the brand
Product consistency
Output should look the same from one unit to the next, and across a product range
Compliance
Specified and regulated products benefit from a documented result behind every unit
Objective, repeatable results
A measured value removes the subjectivity of a visual inspection
Keep pace with production
Fast, multichannel testing fits the line without becoming a bottleneck
Color & intensity testing
Confirms LEDs match one another and stay consistent from one unit to the next
CCT & chromaticity measurement
Reports color temperature and CIE coordinates for every LED
Fast test times
Every LED read in a single cycle, in-line or off-line
Low-light measurement
Reliable readings on dim, backlit and etched surfaces
Traceable, absolute measurement options
Full-spectrum color and wavelength from the Feasa LED Spectrometer, on its own or as a reference for the Feasa LED Analysers
Data logging & results output
Every reading captured and exported for records and analysis

Common cockpit and cabin lighting test scenarios
A closer look at how Feasa systems are applied to specific cockpit and cabin lighting measurement challenges.
Testing cockpit panel legends
Legend luminance and (x,y) are captured per zone at low light across the panel. Feasa outputs the data; the customer applies their own limits through the software or API.
Dim or uneven legends show up in the output before final assembly.
Verifying cockpit displays
Luminance and (x,y) are captured across the illuminated area via fibre-optic heads placed over the panel.
Values are output per point. The customer compares against their own spec.
Characterizing annunciator color across the dimming range
Color (x,y) and intensity are captured at each drive level through the dimming range.
Values are output per level. From this the customer can see how the color holds — or shifts — from full-bright to low-dim, rather than at a single point.
